Mary Lorraine Leban

Mary Lorraine Leban, 92, of McDonald passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in St. Clair Hospital.

She was born on August 29, 1922 in Latrobe, the daughter of the late Anton and Mary Zagar Sivavec.

During World War II, Mary proudly worked for Dravo as a drill press operator. She was a resident of Gladden Heights for most of her life and had attended St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in McDonald. She volunteered as a 4-H Leader in McDonald for many years. Mary was also a long standing member of the SNPJ Lodge 138 in Strabane.

Mary had a full appreciation of life and wanted to keep her loved ones close. Her family was her priority. Much effort went into gardening and cooking healthy meals for her family. Faith was another priority in Mary's life. She felt as she was one with the Lord.

On July 15, 1950 she married Anton A. Leban, who passed away on March 27, 2010.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda L. Mahanay of Palm Coast, FL, Donna J. Leban of South Burlington, VT, and Janice H. (Mark) Gearhart of Tampa, FL; a brother, Bernard (Dorothy) Sivavec of McMurray; her granddaughter, Allison J. (Michael) Grkman of Canonsburg; two great grandsons, Luka and Niko Grkman, both of Canonsburg; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Sivavec of Canonsburg and Kathy Sivavec of Upper St. Clair; and eleven nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Frederick Sivavec.

Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
