Mary Fecycz Kotyk 92, of Canonsburg. Pa. passed away on January 4, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born in Maniow, Poland, on February 28, 1921, to Theodore and Eva Shushereba Fecycz. Mrs. Kotyk immigrated with her family to the United States in 1926 and settled in Canonsburg, where she lived her entire life.
She worked for over 35 years at the former RCA facility in Meadowlands, as an electronic assembler and inspector prior to her retirement. Mrs. Kotyk was a life long member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church in Canonsburg and sang in the choir for over 50 years. She also volunteered at the weekly bingo held at St. John's for many years. She enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her life long friends and her family.
On June 28, 1942 she married John "Cap" Kotyk for 50 years prior to his passing in 1992. Surviving are son, John Kotyk and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Kotyk of Acton, Ma; two grandsons, Nicholas Kotyk of Canonsburg and Christopher Kotyk of Irvine, CA. she was last of her immediate family.
She was the oldest of four children, Private First Class Nicholas Fecycz, who was killed in action in France in 1944, John Fecycz formerly of Canonsburg, who passed away in 2006, and Helen Fecycz Brunasky formerly of Houston, who passed away in 2012.
Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM the time of the Service at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
