Mary Uchal Kostelich age 87 of Canonsburg passed away Monday April 21, 2014 in Townveiw Rehabilitation Center Canonsburg.
She was born August 16, 1926 in Canonsburg a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kapustynski Uchal. Mrs. Kostelich lived her life in Canonsburg where she was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church. She graduated from Canonsburg High School class of 1944 and over the years had been employed by Hahn's Greenhouse, McCrory's 5&10, Mt. Lebanon Golf Club, Duncan Miler War Plant, Jim's Superette and Canonsburg McDonalds. Mrs. Kostelich was a member of Canonsburg Senior Citizens and the Busy Fingers Bunch, Democratic Women and the Ladies Eagles Lodge #861 of Canonsburg. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and baking, playing cards and bingo, traveling, casinos, polkas, country music and crafts. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving is her son, David (Sondra) Kostelich of Ohio, two granddaughters; Arianne (Josh) Ahlvin of Arizona and Kim Kostelich of Ohio, four great grandsons; Caleb and Conner Ahlvin, Jacob Kostelich and Jaethen Donnelly, two aunts Eva Ballard of Baltimore and Sophia Braddock of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Wednesday and from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. A liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am in St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church with reverend Joseph Jugan, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery.
