Mary Rose D'Amico age 87 of Canonsburg, died Friday March 25, 2011 in her home following a five month illness. She was born July 10, 1923 in Broughton a daughter of the late Peter Paul and Rosalie Galinus Merovich.
Mrs. D'Amico lived in Canonsburg for the past 64 years where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. A graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, she was a homemaker and had last been employed at the former A&P store in Canonsburg.
On March 5, 1944 she married Joseph D'Amico who died November 24, 2007. She is survived by three daughters; Linda (Barry) Andrews of Washington, Patricia Karner of Eighty-four and Nancy D'Amico of Pittsburgh, her son, Jerry (Mary) D'Amico of Canonsburg, six grand children Scott and Joe Cullen, Jody (Dane) Quinlan, Dennis (Colleen) Karner Jr., Jessica and Matt D'Amico, two great grand children, Dillion Karner and Remington Quinlan, several nieces and nephews and more friends than one can count. Deceased are two brothers, Andy and Peter Merovich and two sisters Rose Johns and Sophie O'Nuska.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30am Tuesday March 29, 2011. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am, Tuesday in St. Patrick R.C. Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
