Martha E. Benedict age 84 of Canonsburg died at 11:50 pm Sunday September 20, 2009 in her home.
She was born August 9, 1925 in Hannastown, Westmoreland County a daughter of Thomas and Sally Bober Kosharsky. Mrs. Benedict lived most of her life in the Houston, Canonsburg area where she was a member of St. Patrick R. C. church and a graduate of Chartiers High School and Penn Commercial Business School. She had been employed as a secretary at the former R.C.A. plant in Canonsburg, had been a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild and Toastmistresses.
On February 11, 1945 she married Charles R. Benedict Sr., who died May 8, 1999.
She is survived by a son Charles R. (Kristine) Benedict Jr. of Cecil, two daughters, Beverly Ann (Peter) Backner of Cecil and Sally Ann (Robert) Spinner of Coconut Creek, Florida, six grandchildren, Valerie Spinner, Julie Welch, Melissa Benedict, Charles R. Benedict III, Melanie Dordick and Amanda Tutty, six great grand children, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Benedict was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are seven sisters, Margaret Wilson, Catherine Stasiowski, Mary Skwarlo, Mildred Mullins, Stella Cook, Josephine Subrick and Ann Divich and one brother Stanley Kosharsky.
