Mario A. Compeggie age 90 of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011, At Golden Living of South Hills following a brief illness. He was born February 1, 1921 in Arden, Washington County, a son of the late Mike and Angelina Compeggie.
Mr. Compeggie lived most of his life in the Muse and Canonsburg area and was a member of St. Patrick Church. He had been employed at the Former H.C. Frick Coal Co. in Muse until it's closing in 1954. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by the Canon-McMillan School District as a custodian and school crossing guard. Mr. Compeggie was a member of the Muse Independent Club and the Italian American Association.
On August 22, 1943 he married Carmella Rose Scarsi who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Barbara L (Gordon L.) Coulter of Canonsburg and his son Anthony Louis "Butch" (Susan) Compeggie of Canonsburg, a brother Joseph (Fortunato) Compeggie of Canonsburg, two sisters Mildred Kifer of Canonsburg and Lucy Odis of Westley Chapel, Florida, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a good friend Greg Bazzoli. Deceased are three sisters Nita Vergnola, Doris Chessy and Stella Moore.
