Maria Gasbarrini

Maria Gasbarrini age 94 of Canonsburg died unexpectedly, Tuesday August 31, 2010 in Canonsburg General Hospital. She was born January 1, 1916 in Christofer, Illinois a daughter of Giovanni and Libertata Micarella Filauro.At the age of three Mrs. Gasbarrini returned with her family to San Demetri, Provenzia di L'aquila Italy. She returned to America 18 years later and on April 15, 1936 she married Giovanni Gasbarrini who died January 12, 1994.
Mrs. Gasbarrini was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Muse; she was a wonderful Mother, beloved grandmother and an excellent cook and homemaker.
She is survived by three sons Joseph (Nancy) Gasbarrini, Victor (Lil) Gasbarrini, and John (Ann) Gasbarinni all of Canonsburg, two daughters Antoniette (Steve) Vavrek of Strabane and Lola (Alan) Laskosky of Muse, a sister, Assunta LaChroma of Italy, sixteen grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband is a daughter Claire Leichty, a sister Rosena Andrews and two brothers Dominick and Tony Filauro.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30am Friday September 3, 2010. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in Holy Rosary Church, Muse with Reverend George DeVille, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery Canonsburg.
