Major Stanley J. Shutok, USAF, (Retired) age 89 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2011, in his home with his family and friends by his bedside.
He was born November 20, 1921 in Uniontown, son of the late Albert and Mary (Kuznar) Shutok.
Major Shutok graduated from Georges Twp. High School in 1939. He attended California College in California. Pa., Potomac State College in Keyser W.V., and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, graduating in 1949 with a BS degree in Business Administration.
Major Shutok was in the US Navy for three years during World War II stationed in Tennessee teaching Marine and Navy student pilots radio radar and Identification Friend or Foe (IFF). He spent three years in Germany with the US Air Force during the Korean War as a deputy finance officer in the 375th Troop Carrier Wing. Upon release from active duty, he retired from the 171st Air Refueling wing, Pittsburgh in 1969.
He was an active member of the following organizations: Steel City Retired Officers Club, President and Secretary; Concerned Citizens of North Strabane, President; Greater Canonsburg Public Library, President; Reserved Officers Association Chapter 057, President and Secretary; Pa. Council of Chapters, The Retired Officers Association, State Secretary and Treasurer, Pa.; War Veterans Council Delegate; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg, American Legion Post 175 of Washington and a long time member of St. Patrick Church.
Major Shutok's family was the most important thing in his life. He loved spending time with them at many family gatherings in his Canonsburg home. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and most of gardening.
He also participated as an extra in several movies, "Maria's Lovers", "Clarence Darrow", "Citizen Kohn" and "Kingpin"
On August 19, 1947 he married the love of his life, Margaret Connors, who passed away on September 13, 2008
Surviving are son Richard Shutok (Donna), daughters Susan Duckworth (Kenneth), Sharon Utlak (Michael), Patricia Shutok, Karen Overcashier (Peter), MaryLou May (Donald), grandchildren Tawnya Weidinger (John), Ann Shutok, Joseph Duckworth (Heather), Kirsten Bowes (David), Stephanie May, Kelsey Utlak, Melissa Levine (Brian), and great-grandchildren Brian Price, McKenzie Price, Grace Weidinger, Chase Bowes, Lilly May, Preston Bowes, Connor Weidinger, and Aubrey Levine.

He is also survived by brother, William Shutok and two sisters, Mary Shutok and Helen Hall and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, three sisters, and his daughter Kathleen, who died in infancy.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, August 14, from 6 to 8 PM and on Monday, August 15, from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, Joseph P. Salandra owner/ Supervior where Blessing Service will be held Tuesday, August 16, at 11:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies; Cecil Twp. Full Military Honors will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg American Legion Post 902 of Houston and also The Patriots Guard Riders
