Lucille B. "Lucy" Smith

Lucille B. "Lucy" Smith age 97 of Strabane, died on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2010 in Washington Hospital. She was born April 8, 1913 in Yugoslavia a daughter of Joseph and Mary DeBlak Bostjancic. She lived most of her life in Strabane where she had been employed for 21 years at the Alexander Co-op. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Patrick church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild. Lucy enjoyed polka music, bingo, spending time with her family and especially sending greeting cards to everyone she knew and to many she didn't know. She was a member of the Slovenian Women's Union branch 71 where she had been secretary for 24 years, SNPJ lodge 138 and Pensioners, all of Strabane.
On February 26, 1932 she married William C. Smith who died August 30, 1970. Surviving are her daughter Dolores Hollenbach of Streetsboro, Ohio, daughter in law Bertha Smith of Canonsburg, sister in law Agnes Bostjancic of Strabane. Six grandchildren; Jeff (Debbie) Hollenbach, Chris Hollenbach, Kelly (Terry) Garove, Bill (Susan) Smith, Julie Grego and George Smith, six great grandchildren; Terry and Amanda Garove, Brett Hollenbach, Samantha, William and Heather Smith a special nephew, Ray Plants, in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her husband are a son William J. Smith who died May 3, 1989, son-in-law Jacob "Buck" Hollenbach and two brothers Joseph and Stanley Bostjancic.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Monday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 am Tuesday December 28, 2010 followed at 10:00 am by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The Christian Mothers will recite rosary on Monday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home
