Louis E. Menichi age 89 of McDonald (Hickory) passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born on October 15, 1923 in Elizabeth, Pa. the son of the late Stefano and Jennie Cappelli Menichi.
Mr. Menichi was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, a self employed farmer who started in Venetia and moved to Hickory in 1952. He also worked for Canonsburg Milling Company for 13 years driving a portable feed grinding truck that serviced area farmers.
Mr. Menichi enjoyed farming, , spending time with fellow farmers and friends, tinkering with farming equipment, but most of all spending time with his family.
On October 24, 1953 he married his beloved wife Sarah E. "Betty" Chambers who passed away August 28, 2003.
Surviving are a son David E. (Lisa) Menichi of Coraopolis; two daughters, Lynnette E. (Peter) Ligman of McMurray and Patrice S. (Edward) Johnstonbaugh of Venetia; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Rebecca) Ligman, Adam (Jaime) Ligman, Matthew (Lauren) Ligman, Kaitlyn Ligman, Ryan and Shane Johnstonbaugh, Heidi Gregori, and Tim (Katie) Gross; four great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Keegan, Owen and Helen; two sisters; Erma Grego of Venetia and Anna Marie Corrado of McMurray; sister-in-law Jennie "Dottie" Menichi of McDonald and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased also is a brother, Ernest Menichi who passed away in 2000.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. Family suggest donations be made to American Cancer Society at PO Box 275 Washington, Pa. 15301 in Louis's memory
