Lois M. Hamilton Rheam, 97, of Washington passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in the Washington County Health Center, Washington.
She was born on September 18, 1918 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward M. and Anna M. Eckert Hamilton.
Before having children, Lois was a secretary for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh. She had also been a secretary for the Assistant to the President at W & J College. Lois was a devoted long-time member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg, where she was also a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild.
On November 26, 1942 she married Leo H. Rheam, who passed away on June 1, 2000 after 58 years of marriage.
Surviving are three beloved children, Gary (Colleen) Rheam of Saline, Michigan, Pat (Kathie) Rheam of Washington, and Judie (Jerry) Burleson of The Villages, Florida; eight loving grandchildren, Eric, Doug, Kristen, Nolan, and Patrick Rheam and Drs. Ryan, Aaron, and Dustin Burleson; and six precious great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Howard Hamilton and two sisters, Gertrude McGrown and Rita Lang, who was her twin.
Lois was the last of her immediate family.
Friends are welcome from 2:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:30 AM on Monday, February 8, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. The Christian Mothers and Guild will recite the Rosary at 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
