Laurence L. "Larry" Mahanna, 75, of Washington passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Presbyterian SeniorCare in Washington with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Washington on May 17, 1939, the son of the late Charles and Pauline Dobscha Mahanna.
Larry proudly served his country with the United States Air Force from 1957-1961 and with the Air Force Reserves until 1963. He also served with the National Guard from 1976-1978. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 175 in Washington.
Larry enjoyed spending time outside getting fresh air and loved taking long drives. He also was an avid visitor of flea markets. Above all, Larry loved spending quality time with his family. In his youth, Larry and his family raised horses.
He began working with Jessop Steel in 1967, later retiring from Allegheny Ludlum in 1996.
On December 23, 1979 he married Anna M. Byrne Mahanna, who passed away on January 15, 2013.
Larry is survived by his beloved daughter, Tracy (Michael) Hostinsky of Claysville; three grandchildren, Michael, Robert, and Kristin Hostinsky; a great granddaughter, Lydia Ingram; and his loving special friend, Betty Walden of Washington.
At the request of the deceased, services and interment, with full military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 175 Honor Guard, will be held privately in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
