Katherine Kissell, 90, of Houston passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in the home of her compassionate caregiver, Mary Alice Saint and her daughters/nurses Carolyn and Diane, and grandson Lewis.
She was born on September 11, 1924 in Linden North Strabane, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Kotvas Pochiba.
Katherine lived her entire life in the area. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg where she was also a member of the Christian Mothers Guild.
She had attended Trinity High School and later worked in the can factory in Canonsburg during World War II.
Katherine enjoyed her house and neighbors, family, polkas, puzzles, working in the family business, and faithfully read the Observer-Reporter.
On June 21, 1947 she married Andrew M. Kissell, Jr., who passed away on March 18, 1992.
Surviving are her son, Gary A. Kissell and his wife Bernadette of McMurray; two brothers, Joseph and John Pochiba; a sister, Evelyn Gulla; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, deceased are five sisters, Ann Wudkwych, Frances Sroka, Julia Gronski, Helen Sluciak, and Mary Kowalski; and a brother, Andrew Pochiba.
Friends are welcome from 9:30 AM " 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Blessing Service will begin at 12:30 PM on Tuesday. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
