Julia V. Puchany age 81 of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in her daughter's home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 14, 1930, in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Albert and Adelma Orisini Valery.
Mrs. Puchany lived her entire life in Canonsburg, was a graduate of Canonsburg High School, class of 1948, and retired after 24 years as corporate secretary for Mac Plastics. In her earlier years she worked for the RCA in Canonsburg, and also for the United States Postal Service in Canonsburg and Washington.
Mrs. Puchany was a member of St. Patrick Church, their Christian Mothers and Women Guild. She also was a member of the Business and Professional Women, Democratic Women, Canonsburg Hospital TWIG, Muse Senior Citizens and Muse Independent Club Ladies Auxiliary.
She married Andrew J. "Pooch" Puchany on June 17, 1950, who survives; she was married for nearly 61 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Andrew A. Puchany of Muse; Anthony A. (Sharon) Puchany of Tioga, North Dakota; daughter, Valerie A. (Lyle) Haney of Apollo, Pa.; six grandchildren, Chris Krieger step grandson, Albert R. Puchany, Angela and Shaily Jeffers, Andriana and Alexander Puchany and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Puchany was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased also are three brothers, Golfred A., Nobert A., and Harold A. Valery.
Friends are welcome on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM and on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Christian Mothers will recite the rosary on Sunday at 3:00 PM in the funeral home also Business and Professional Women will have a service Sunday at 7:00PM in funeral home. Family suggests donations be made to Stroke Research in memory of Mrs. Puchany.
