Julia E. Yarkosky 90, of Canonsburg passed away peacefully, Monday January 27, 2025, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, with her devoted family by her side. She was born on September 19, 1934, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John Charles and Catherine Ann Hudak Sroka. Mrs. Yarkosky lived her life in Canonsburg where she graduated from Canonsburg High School class of 1954 and was a faithful member of St Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church. In her younger career she had been employed with RCA and prior to her retirement, was employed as an elementary school secretary with the Canon-McMillan School District for 31 years. Julie volunteered with Canonsburg Houston Meals on Wheels and for many years at Canonsburg General Hospital. She enjoyed going to Daytona Beach Florida for over 20 years, many hobbies and lunching with her friends. On July 16, 1955, she married Ronald J. Yarkosky who passed away November 17, 2019, after 64 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved children Marsha Vorum and her husband Charles of Acme and Ronald G. Yarkosky (Lori Katlubeck ) of Venetia, grandchildren Alex Yarkosky and Abigail (James Tennant) Yarkosky , great granddaughter Lena Tennant, sisters Anna Sedora of Canonsburg and Dorothy Jacobs of Harrisburg, brothers Charles Sroka of Canonsburg and Theodore Sroka of Tucson Arizona and many nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are her sisters, Catherine Gregg, Patricia Day and Elizabeth Sroka and brothers, George, John, Paul and Ronald Sroka.
Friends and family are welcome from 2-4 and 5-8 pm Friday January 31, 2025, in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (745) 745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Saturday February 1, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment, with dove release, will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested for Canonsburg-Houston Meals on Wheels 102 N.
