Josephine Ann "Jo Ann" Vozel, 86, of Canonsburg, passed away on December 30, 2014 in Golden Living of South Hills.
She was born on February 10, 1928 in Tarentum, a daughter of the late Martin and Jennie Bambic Slivsek.
She had been a resident of Strabane prior to relocating to Canonsburg. Jo Ann was a former employee of Harry M. Stevens Co., working at the Meadows. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jo Ann had been a member of St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Muse. She was a 50 year member and former Secretary of the SNPJ Lodge 265 in Southview.
On February 3, 1951 she married John Vozel, Jr., who passed away on January 10, 1990.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia D. (Robert C.) Shuster of South Park; her son, John Martin (Sally) Vozel of Carnegie; four grandchildren, Erik P. (Tammy) Shuster, Nicholas M. (Lisa) Shuster, Kristen N. Vozel, and Lori A. (Jonathan) Gaydos; five great grandchildren, Julia, Nicholas, Greenlee, and Meadow Shuster and Emma Vozel. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Barbara Ann Secrist and Helen Arlene Slivsek, who passed away in infancy.
A Blessing Service will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2015 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 with Rev. George DeVille as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
