Josephine L. Piatnick age 82 of Canonsburg, died Friday June 18, 2010 in Washington Hospital. She was born March 20, 1928 in Strabane, a daughter of the late Frank and Louise Vidih Mikec. Mrs. Piatnick lived most of her life in Canonsburg where she was a member of St Patrick church and the Christian Mothers and Guild. A graduate of Canonsburg High School, she was a member of the first group of majorettes in the district. Mrs. Piatnick was a member of the SNPJ Lodge 138 and AFU Lodge both of Strabane. She enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing, professional golf, reading and playing slot machines.
On June 26, 1948 she married William A. Piatnick who died September 19, 1997. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Ann (Carl) Bruno of Houston, a son John Michael Piatnick of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Piatnick was the last of her immediate family. Deceased is a sister Jennie Tershel and four brothers Rudy, Frank, Henry and Edward Mikec.
At Mrs. Piatnicks request, there will be private family visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick church, followed by interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg.
