Josephine Namit, 98, of Canonsburg died March 8, 2010 in Canonsburg General Hospital.
She was born May 1, 1911 in Canonsburg the daughter of Stanley and Hilda Kasmir Korski.
Mrs. Namit was a member of St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. She graduated from Canonsburg High School, Class of 1930.
She graduated from Canonsburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. Mrs. Namit received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Millersville University in 1961.
Mrs. Namit started as a staff nurse at Canonsburg Hospital and also worked as a staff nurse at Millersville University for 16 years in the infirmary where she retired. Mrs Namit returned to Canonsburg in 1986.
She was a member of Christian Mothers and Guild at St. Patrick Church, Catholic Daughters of America Court Canonsburg 121. Also a member of the Womens Campus Club at Millersville University, Canonsburg Hospital Twig, and several social organizations. She had been a former member of the Jefferson College Historical Society of Canonsburg and the Houston Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Namit spent most of her life in Canonsburg and Lancaster.
Surviving are a nephew Edward P. Korski of Surprise, Arizona, two nieces Martha Jo Shortill of Clearwater, Florida and Helen Mangin of Poland, Ohio and many other nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome at 9am Thursday March 11, 2010 in Salandra funeral service, Inc. Joseph P Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St Patrick Church. Private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg. Donations are suggested for St. Patrick Church or Canonsburg Hospital's Ladies Auxiliary.
