Josephine Battistone, 87, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 25, 2017, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
She was born August 19, 1929, in San Demetrio, Provenzia di L'Aquila, Italy, a daughter of the late Umberto and Angelantoia Visca Battistone.
Miss Battistone lived in Canonsburg since 1953 and was a member of St.Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
She had been employed at Chartiers Cleaners for many years, then in the kitchen at the former Jiggs Restaurant in Meadow Lands, and prior to her retirement, was on the cleaning staff at the former Mac Plastic's plant in Canonsburg.
Miss Battistone was an excellent seamstress by trade and was an independent and strong willed person.
Surviving are a niece, Tina (David) Dupesko of Canonsburg, nephew John Dupesko, great-nephews and great-niece David (Rickie) DiTullio Matthew DiTullio and Autumn (Jim) Losser, and her good friend Cathy Keener. Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a sister, Marie C. Dupesko, who passed away July 30, 2010.
Friends are welcome from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 28. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
