Joseph Jacanin age 81 of Canonsburg passed away suddenly Monday evening at his home with his wife of 54 years Rosemarie by his side. Mr. Jacanin was proud of his military service with the US Army in Korea. He obtained the rank of Sergeant as a forward mores code operator. After returning home he married Rose Marie Cerbe on October 5, 1957, who survives. He worked for 26 years at McGraw-Edison and Cooper Industries until his retirement in 1992, as a mechanical assembler. Mr. Jacanin enjoyed worshipping and volunteering at St. Michael's Byzantine Church where he was a lifetime member. He was also a member of the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 of Houston. His Family would like everyone who knew him to remember Joe with his pleasant smile and his "just a little bit of humor" personality.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son Keith J. Jacanin of Washington, his daughter Kathleen (Richard) Ali of South Fayette Twp. two grandsons Zachary and Ricky Ali, a brother John Andrew Jacanin of Lake Havasu, Arizona, two sisters JoAnn (Jacob) Orbin of Phoenix, Arizona and Anna H. (James) Ford of Linesville, PA., a sister in law Patricia Cerbe of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his daughter in law Patricia Severine Jacanin and a brother Captain James M. Jacanin US Navy Retired. Friends are welcome from 6-8pm. Wednesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor where a blessing service will be held at 9 am Thursday August 30, 2012. Divine Liturgy will follow at 9:30 am in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church with reverend Joseph Jugan, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow at 11am in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 of Houston combined honor guard. Parastas services will be held at 7pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
