Joseph F. Bukovinsky

June 29, 1945 — April 4, 2015

Joseph F. Bukovinsky, 69, of Canonsburg passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born in Washington on June 29, 1945, a son of the late Joseph F. and Virginia F. Checco Bukovinsky.

After graduating from Avella High School in 1964, Joe proudly served his country with the United States Army during Vietnam. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he relocated to Canonsburg and has resided there since. Joe recently retired in 2014 from Horsehead Corporation in Monaca. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, the VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg, and the American Legion Post 945.

Joe was hardworking, loving, caring, and generous. He believed in "paying it forward". He enjoyed socializing with family and friends, going to the movies and concerts, and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

On July 23, 1966 he married Marylou Tolzda Bukovinsky, who passed away on February 1, 2011.
Surviving are two sons, Shawn F. (Sandra J.) Bukovinsky and Joseph L. (Kelly) Bukovinsky; four grandsons, Dylan, Ethan, Brian, and Daniel Bukovinsky; a brother, Jim Bukovinsky; and numerous other members of his extended family. Also surviving is his special friend, Dee Stegman.

Joe also leaves behind his beloved cat, Will.

Deceased in addition to his parents and wife is a sister, Doris Bukovinsky.

Friends are welcome from 2-8 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 10, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12 Noon in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Inurnment, will full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard, will follow at 1:30 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the VFW Post 191, 539 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317 or to the Washington Area Humane Society, 1527 PA-136, Eighty Four, PA 15330 (www.washingtonpashelter.org).
