Joseph R. "Joe" Bell age 98 of Canonsburg, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the North Hills Health and Rehab Center in Wexford. He was born on December 1, 1912 in Canonsburg, the son of the late Falco and Marietta Delfini Bell (Campana).
Mr. Bell lived his entire life in Canonsburg. He served with the United States Army during World War II with the 228th Chemical Base Depot Company. He retired from Cooper Power Systems in 1975, and was a long time member of St. Patrick Church and the American Legion. He was also a member of Washington Country Club.
On June 26, 1936 he married Katherine Rotella, who died June 17, 1998. Mr. Bell has two surviving sons, Joseph R. (Sheila) Bell of Wexford and Charles E. (Nancy) Bell of Churchill. A daughter, Katherine Roskowski, is deceased. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sisters Viola Zampini and Laura Bell, and two brothers, Fred and Victor Bell.
At the request of Mr. Bell, there will be no public visitation. Services will be private and interment will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the combined Honor Guard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
