John F. Borda

John F. Borda age 85 of Houston passed away Monday January 23, 2023, in Premier Washington Health Center, following an extended illness. He was born March 3, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late Steve and Helen Guzik Borda Sr. John was a lifelong resident of the Houston area and was a graduate of Chartiers High School and had attended the Robert Morris School of Accounting. He proudly served with the United States Marine Corps and was Catholic. John was an avid card player who enjoyed poker and pinochle games at the Houston Independent Club. He also enjoyed fishing and had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Bears in Meadowlands and the Alpine Club in Washington. Prior to his retirement John had been employed for many years as a welder at McGraw Edison and Cooper Industries in Canonsburg. On October 15, 1960, he married Carole Forsythe who survives after 62 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his children, son John F. Borda and his wife Karen of Houston and daughter Carrie L. Martik and her husband Doug of Peters Twp, four grandchildren, Tyler (Aubrey) Martik, Matthew and Aidan Martik and Elizabeth Borda and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents, is his brother Steve Borda who passed away August 7, 2010.

Friends and family are welcome from 5 -8 pm Wednesday January 25, 2023, in SALANDRA FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where departing remarks will be given at 9 am Thursday January 26, 2023. Interment will follow with full military Honors by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United States Marine Corp in the Nation Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
