John Binotto

John Binotto, 96 of McMurray, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at ManorCare in McMurray surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lawrence on November 24, 1919 the son of Giovanni and Fortunata Dalla Piazza Binotto who preceded him in death.

Mr. Binotto graduated from Cecil High School and Duquesne University.  He joined the Air Force during WWII and was stationed at many bases across the United States.

In 1942 he played professional football for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles. On November 9, 1942 while playing football in Philadelphia he married the late Mary E. Wilkins.

Professionally, he worked as the director of several technical schools in Pittsburgh and retired from Rosedale Technical School.

He was a loving father.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, picking corn on his brother’s farms and especially loved his vegetable and flower gardens. He had a life full of many experiences and loved to share stories about these experiences.  His presence will be greatly missed by all that loved him.

He was one of ten children and is survived by a brother William Binotto of Canonsburg.

He is also survived by four beloved children Larry Binotto of McMurray, Jeanine (William) Smith of McMurray, Gary (Cheri) Binotto of McMurray and John Jr., of Lawrence (Nancy of Canonsburg), ten grandchildren, one step grandchild, five great grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Friends are welcome from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, February 22, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Donnell House in Washington.
