Joann J. (Daley) Yuhas

Joann J. Yuhas age 81 of Washington formerly of Houston passed away Tuesday September 6, 2016 in Canonsburg General Hospital with her beloved family and her best friend Lucille Ringer by her side. She was born February 1, 1935 in Toronto, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Margaret Lackmus Daley. Mrs. Yuhas lived most of her life in Houston and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. She had been employed in her early years at Tatano Plastics and in the dietary department of South Hills Convalescent Center. She loved the Pittsburgh Penguins, listening to the Wild Things baseball on the radio, and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Mrs. Yuhas’ passion was cooking and she was well known for her cabbage rolls. At 80 she retired after 25 years of running the kitchen as head and specialty cook at the Pike Inn restaurant in Houston, where she was loved by all who knew her.                                                                                                                  On November 20, 1954 she married Frank Yuhas who passed away April 1, 1984. She is survived by two loving daughters, Deborah (Scott) Falcione with whom she made her home the past 5 years and Darlene Weishner (Jordan Wolfe) of Fredericktown, two sisters Mildred “Midge” (Anthony) Valone of Canonsburg and Betty Rose Stacko of Washington, six grandchildren, each one being her “favorite”; Mark Aaron Weishner, Daesha Rae (Ryan) Gogarty, Amanda Jo Weishner, Chelsea Marie Falcione, Scott Joseph (Kelley) Falcione Jr., Courtney Margaret Szabo, and two great grandchildren; Casey Herrod and Colin Gogarty and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is a brother Thomas E. Daly Jr. and her grandson Brian Joseph Gilpin.

Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Thursday September 8, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9am Friday September 9, 2016 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Gardens McMurray.
