Joan A. Wilson, 73 of Houston passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in the Donnell House after a hard fought eight month battle with cancer.
She was born on November 22, 1943 in Canonsburg to John and Helen Majcher Klapach who preceded her in death.
On September 16, 1967 she married Kenneth K. Wilson who passed away on June 17, 1985.
Mrs. Wilson was a faithful member of St Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. She was a secretary for the Washington County Housing Authority until her retirement.
She was a volunteer foster grandparent with Community Action in Washington. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter going to the Casino. Her joy was her two granddaughters and spent as much time with them as she could. She was a loving and very devoted caregiver to her son John Paul for many years.
She is survived by one daughter, Lorrie A. Giles (Thomas D. Basey, Jr., her fiance’) of Canonsburg and one son, John Paul Wilson of Houston, three sisters Margie Prozzoly, of Canonsburg, Barbara J. Moze, of Houston and Susan Klapach of Washington, a sister-in-law Barbara Thompson (Bruce) of Eighty-Four and two granddaughters Madison and Morgan Giles and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, visitation is private. All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon on Friday, October 6, 2017 in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment in Forest Lawn Gardens will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.
