Joan Douglas age 78 of Houston passed away unexpectedly Saturday July 12, 2014 in her home. She was born January 27 1936 in Coal Center a daughter of the late Andrew and Albina Metkus Sentipal.
Mrs. Douglas was a graduate of California High School and lived most of her life in Houston. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a nurse's aide at the Washington County Health Center for 10 years and was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, the Meadows Casino and Sarris candies. On August 1, 1959 she married John R. Douglas who passed away March 3, 1995. Surviving are her son, Steven (Irene) Douglas of Canonsburg, her daughter Lynne Douglas with whom she made her home, three grandsons; Sean, Christopher and Matthew Douglas, a brother Andrew (Paula) Sentipal of Fredericksburg, VA, a sister Connie (Tom) Selep of Whitehall and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 10am Wednesday July 16, 2014. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
