Jennie Valencic age 88 of Meadowlands passed away on Wednesday December 12, 2012 in Donnel House, Washington.
She was born December 27, 1923 in Meadowlands a daughter of the late John and Jennie Cvetnic Valencic. She lived her entire life in Meadowlands where she was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and the Christian Mothers and Guild.
Miss Valencic had been employed as an inspector at the RCA plants in both Canonsburg and Meadowlands prior to her retirement. She was a graduate of Chartiers High School, wrote and spoke fluent Slovenian and was very proud of her heritage, taking a trip to Slovenia in 1974. She enjoyed her nephews accordion playing, many bus trips and picnics with her family and friends.
Surviving is her brother Frank (Marjorie) Valencic of Strabane and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents are two brothers, John Valencic Jr. and his twin brother who died in infancy, two sisters, Mary Lucas and Frances Wozniak and a nephew Joe Lucas.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Friday December 14, 2012 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayer will be said at 9:30 am Saturday December 15, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church with reverend Carman D'Amico, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Township. The Christian Mothers and Guild of Miraculous Medal will recite the rosary at 3 pm Friday in the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Slovenian Radio Hour.
