Jean Louise Jakubetz age 90 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Tuesday January 10, 2023, in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon Twp. She was born March 2, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Lisowski Grandinetta. Jean was a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church. She had taken pride as a waitress who worked until she was 80. She was never unhappy and enjoyed being around her coworkers and meeting new people. Jean had been employed for 27 years at the former Holiday Inn in Meadowlands, where she earned multiple awards, including Employee of the Year. and in her final years she was a favorite of the residents and staff at the Grand Residence of Upper St. Clair and most recently at McMurray Hills Manor. She loved old movies and always knew the correct answers to the “Entertainment” questions in Trivial Pursuit. She most enjoyed being with her family and her grand dog Rawley. Jean had a very social personality; a quick wit and was very funny with a spunky spirit. On April 10, 1964, she married Joseph J. Jakubetz who passed away April 12, 2012, after 48 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory are her devoted children, two sons Robert McElhaney of Virginia Beach, VA and Sean McElhaney of Summersville South Carolina, two daughters, Patricia M. Walker and her husband Timothy of Cecil Twp. and Jo Jakubetz Dermitt and her husband Ron of Canonsburg, her sister Marie Kopec of Dover, Ohio, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is her daughter Colleen McElhaney who passed away March 10, 2015, a sister Patricia Grandinetta and brother Raymond Grandinetta.
At Mrs. Jakubetz request, private interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. A Catholic Blessing service and a celebration of her life will be held at noon, March 3, 2023, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P.
