Jean Verrone Mascetta, aged 91, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Providence Point, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 18, 1932, a daughter of the late John and Rose Palamone Verrone. Jean was a lifelong learner and a proud graduate of Canonsburg High School and Duffs Business School. She built a successful career as an Executive Secretary, dedicating many years of service to both McGraw Edison and Cyclops/Armco Corporations. Jean was a devout member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where she was actively involved in the Christian Mothers and Guild and frequently volunteered at church festivals. Her faith and dedication to her community were evident in her commitment to these activities. A smart, loving woman who cherished her family above all, Jean was the matriarch of a large and loving family. Left behind to cherish her memory are her devoted daughters, Lisa Snow (Larry), Linda Trethewey (Scott), and Lori Galley (John); grandchildren, Joseph (Abbey) Galley, Gina (Erik) Duda, Jack (Martha) Trethewey, Katie (Charlie) Arndall, Maria Snow, Emily (Kevin) Amlund, Michael (Kayla) Snow, Sara Galley, Scott Trethewey, Daniel Trethewey, and Amy Snow; and great- grandchildren, Lily Trethewey, John James Galley, and Rhodes Trethewey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Palamone and John Verrone; siblings, Marguerite Palermo and Sylvia Andy; and her beloved husband of 54 years, Joseph A. Mascetta, who passed away January 25, 2014.
Jean's hobbies included helping with church festivals, dancing and hosting family gatherings, and staying connected with her loved ones regardless of the distance. Her presence and guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday October 18, 2024, in SALANDRA FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Saturday October 19, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
