Jean M. DiCio age 92, of Washington, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at 7:10 AM in Hawthorne Woods, Washington.
She was born September 3, 1916 in Canonsburg, the daughter of John and Rosaria Colaizzo.
Mrs. DiCio was a graduate of Canonsburg High School class of 1934, where she played on the basketball team. She was the last living class mate.
She was a salesperson for Joseph Horne's Company for over 10 years and later was one for Annex Pharmacy until its closing.
Mrs. DiCio was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a former member of St. Patrick Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughter's.
She was a Brownie den mother in Canonsburg for many years; she won a bake off at the Canonsburg Armory and was Runner up to Miss Canonsburg.
Mrs. DiCio was a devote housewife, who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.
She was the last of her immediate family.
On November 20, 1940, she married Mario DiCio, who died on August 21, 1994.
Surviving are three daughters, Marian (Gary) Kirr of Akron, Ohio; Christine DiCio of Pasadena, Md.; Kathe (Dennis) Dollish of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Jack Kirr, Bradley Kirr, John Henry Lenker and Hannah Dollish; one great-granddaughter, Ava Kirr.
Deceased are three sisters, Elia Rodgers, Lena Colaizzo and Adeline Cheverine; one brother, Frank "Chi Chi" Colaizzo.
Friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial (day and time to be figured) at St. Patrick Church, friends are asked to meet at Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
