Jay D. “Byrd” Lloyd, 61 of Strabane passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018 in his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born on September 5, 1956 in Washington to the late William L. Lloyd and Juanita “Jean” DeHosse Lloyd who survives.

Mr. Lloyd was married to Tina Penely his wife and companion of 39 years.

He was a Christian.

Mr. Lloyd was a coal miner for Consol for many years and then was employed at Washington Penn Plastics as a Laboratory Supervisor until his retirement.

Jay was an excellent baseball player. He played Little League when he was younger and then was a coach for many years. He played at Three Rivers Stadium as a short stop for an all stars team. He loved to hunt, fish and golf. He was a talented Harmonica player and played with Charlie Daniels at a local event.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his brother Robert “Bob” Lloyd (Joann) of Washington and his sister Betty Jean Lloyd (Guy Ruff) of Beaver Falls and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother William P. Lloyd.

Friends are welcome from 2~4 pm and 6~8 pm. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor and Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg where a Blessing Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018. Interment in Forest Lawn Garden will be private.
