James M. "Jim" DeVitis

March 10, 1950 — September 21, 2014

James M. "Jim" DeVitis age 64 of Houston passed away Sunday September 21, 2014 in the Greenery Health and Rehabilitation Facility following an extended illness. He was born March 10, 1950 a son of the late John H. and Jeanette Delfine DeVitis Sr. Mr DeVitis lived in the Hickory area most of his life and was Catholic. He was a 1968 graduate of Ft. Cherry High School where he excelled in wrestling and football. He was a graduate of West Liberty State College in 1973 and was a retired self employed carpenter and antiques dealer. Mr. DeVitis was an avid reader, who loved animals and enjoyed weekly poker games with his friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston.
Surviving is his son Joshua DeVitis of Toms River New Jersey, a sister Carol DeVitis and a brother John H. (Sandra) DeVitis Jr. both of Hickory, nephew, John S. (Dawn) DeVitis, a niece Angela (Doug) Minton, a great niece and nephew and many cousins.
Friends are welcome from 9am until 10:30am Friday September 25, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb FD 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church Meadowlands with reverend Carmen D'Amico as celebrant. Interment will take place in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp.
