James H. "Jim" Lewis, 93, of Canonsburg, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 following an extended illness, with his family by his side in the Donnell House in Washington.
He was born on July 10, 1921 in Greenville, PA, the son of the late William J. and Frances L. Irwin Lewis.
Jim has been a resident of Canonsburg since 1974 and was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church and a 50 year member of Chartiers Lodge No. 297 F. and A.M. . He was a graduate of Thiel College and retired from Westinghouse in 1985. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
On November 25, 1943 he married Vivian Montgomery, who survives.
Surviving are six children, James E. (Betty) Lewis of Altamonte Springs, FL, Linda L. Hauze of Sarasota, FL, John C. (Diana) Lewis of Farmington Hills, MI, R. Jay (Toni) Lewis of Boise, ID, Kevin R. (Debora) Lewis of Minneapolis, MN, and Robert S. (Marilyn) Lewis of Montesano, WA; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and his niece, Lorinda Faye (Lew) McEwen.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, F. Jane Maguffee; granddaughter, Krista M. Maguffee; and his brother, William J. Lewis.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Masonic Service will begin at 7:30 PM. Departing prayers will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 14, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street, Canonsburg with Rev. Don Coleman, officiating. Interment will follow at Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Twp.
