James F. Chiera

James F. Chiera age 74 of Imperial, formerly of Canonsburg, died on Sunday, February 7, 2010 in his home.
He was born June 27, 1935 in Republic, the son of the late Frank J. and Viola L. Denardo Chiera.
Mr. Chiera lived most of his life in Canonsburg and for the last 24 years in Imperial.
He served with the United States Marine Core during the Korean which he received Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.
Mr. Chiera was a truck driver for Totum Lumber for many years.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing his button box and at one time had his own band named Makin' Music.
Mr. Chiera was a member of the SNPJ lodge 106 of Imperial.
On June 14, 1985 he married Joanne Sauers, who survives.
Also surviving are son, Brian Duff of Sidney, Ohio; two daughters, Cindy Boling of Imperial; Amy Boling of Pittsburgh; and grandson Damien Duff.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724-745-8120), where services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10:15 AM. Interment with full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
