Wonderful Mother and Grandmother


Irene L. Mirisciotti age 91 of Canonsburg passed away on Tuesday April 17, 2012 in Canonsburg General Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born August 19, 1920 in Carnegie the daughter of the late Peter and Alberta Bongiovanni Previte. Mrs. Mirisciotti lived most of her life in Canonsburg where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She had been employed at the Kresge Box Company, was an elevator operator at the former Boggs and Buhl Department Store in Pittsburgh and was matron at Canon-McMillan Jr. High School in Canonsburg until her retirement in 1984.
Mrs. Mirisciotti loved spending time with her close knit family and was thrilled with the birth of her new great grandson. She collected fancy cups and saucers and recipe books. "Irene L."was an incredible baker and enjoyed cooking, working cross word puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and playing bingo.
On June 27, 1946 she married Joseph Mirisciotti who died January 20, 2002. Surviving are her loving children Dr. Lucy M. Young (Dr. James S. Johnston) of Canonsburg, Joseph P. Mirisciotti of Canonsburg and Alberta Mirisciotti of Costa Mesa, California, a granddaughter Kristie Jo (Jeff) Schussler of Washington, great grandson, Jordon Riley Schussler and a sister, Sarah (Ted) Sienicki of Upper St. Clair, loving sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband are two sisters Mary Bunker and Catherine Previte who died in infancy, and two brothers, Jack and Anthony Previte.
Friends were received on Wednesday evening and are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30am Friday April 20, 2012 followed at 10am by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
