Ida D. (Ashton) Glass

May 22, 1925 — October 4, 2015

Ida D. Glass age 90 of Houston passed away peacefully Sunday October 4, 2015 in Donnell House, Washington following a brief illness. She was born May 22, 1925 in Pittsburgh a daughter of the late William and Coletta Kress Ashton. A homemaker, she lived most of her life in Houston and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. For years in her youth she had been employed at the former Nabisco Baking Company in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Glass was an avid card player who most enjoyed cooking family dinners and all the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On July 1, 1947 she married Jack Glass who passed away Saturday April 30, 1994. She is survived by her daughter Deborah (Paul) Dawson of Houston, two sons; Anthony (Karen) Glass and Timothy (Suzann) Glass, both of Houston, daughter in law Lorna Glass of Canonsburg, nine grandchildren; Tony (Meredith) Glass, Dan (Jen) Glass, Danyele Glass, Brandy (Karl) Weise, Kimberly (Jerry)Ledford, Tim (Andrea) Glass, Justin (Heidi) Dawson, John Thomas “J.T.” (Bobbi Jo) Glass and Erick Glass, her sister Coletta Ashton of McMurray, fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is her son, John T. Glass who passed away Friday July 3, 2015, her grandson Christian Glass who passed away in infancy, three brothers; James, William and Gerald Ashton, three sisters; Armella Harms, Ruth Ashton and Gertrude Lutz.

Friends and family are welcome from 2-8pm Tuesday October 6, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 10:30 am Wednesday October 7, 2015. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
