Henry R. Tomsic age 78 of Houston died Thursday January 26, 2012 in Washington Hospital surrounded by his family, following an extended illness. He was born February 21, 1933 in Strabane a son of the late Frank and Mary Novak Tomsic.
Mr. Tomsic lived most of his life in Houston and graduated from Chartiers High School. He served with the United States Army and was a member of St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg. A home builder, he owned Tomsic Construction Co. for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and an honorary member of Washington Country Club, where he won many putting competitions over the years. Mr. Tomsic was a true sports fan who closely followed his grandchildren's sporting events, which he never missed and most importantly was a devoted family man.
On June 26, 1954 he married Sally A. Bizzack who survives. Also surviving are two daughters; Karen L. (David) Meili of Houston and Lori A. (Philip) Renko of Canonsburg, a son; Robert (Juliana) Tomsic of Washington, seven grandchildren; Mark (Lindsey) Meili, Michael Meili, Megan (Shayne) Noe, Lauren, Kaley and Marisa Tomsic and Michael Renko, two great grandchildren; Ava and Emma Meili, a brother Frank Tomsic of Washington, two sisters; Veda Snarey of Imperial and Mary Jean (Jack) Davis of Eighty-four, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike St. Canonsburg (724) 745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 am Monday January 30, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Patrick Church. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Peters Twp. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Tomsic's name.
