Henry Dampf age 90 of Canonsburg, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1922 in Canonsburg, the son of the late William and Julia Wieble Dampf.
Mr. Dampf lived most of his life in Canonsburg, where he was a long time member of St. John's the Baptist Orthodox Church and in his early years was a bricklayer, then retiring from former McGraw-Edison as a fabricator.
He served with the Untied States Army during World War II, as a Private First Class with the Headquarters Squadron 3rd Bombardment Division where he received Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with six Bronze Stars.
Mr. Dampf enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his beloved wife who he cared for.
On July 30, 1950 he married his beloved wife of 60 years, Eve Waschak who passed away on January 29, 2010.
Surviving are sister, Frances Vankirk of Albuquerque, N.M.; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Deceased also are sister, Elizabeth Dugan and two brothers, William and John Dampf.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Blessing service will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:30am. Funeral Service will follow at St. John's the Baptist Orthodox Church with Very Rev. John Oleynik Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Parastas Service will be held at 7:00PM Thursday in the funeral home. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the combined Honor guard of VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
