Helen (Thames) Roland age 87 of Washington, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 in the Washington County Health Center.
She was born February 14, 1926 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Andy Mally.
Mrs. Roland was a graduate of Canonsburg High School class of 1944. She lived most of her life in Canonsburg and Peters Twp. Mrs. Roland was a devote home maker and mother. In her earlier years worked for Sun Drug's drugstore in Donaldson Cross Roads. She was Catholic by faith, enjoyed music, dancing and all kinds of animals especially dogs which where her favorite. She was a sociable person and known as a "fairly simple person".
Surviving are a son, Douglas Thames of Bridgeville and a daughter, Barbara (Anthony) Polito of Amity.
Deceased also is a granddaughter, Samara Polito, who passed away in infancy.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 PM the time of the service at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Interment will be private.
