Helen Kotyk age 96 of Canonsburg, died Friday, July 2, 2010 in Country Meadows of South Hills.
She was born October 7, 1913 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Daniel and Maria Cygan Kotyk.
Miss Kotyk work for 25 years for Pennsylvania Rail Road as a teletype operator and also for Sears and Roebucks of South Hills.
She lived her entire life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. John's the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Eagles Lodge 861 Ladies Auxiliary and the Russian Club.
Miss Kotyk enjoyed crocheting; it was her past time and enjoyed baking fruit cakes which was her specialty.
Surviving are three sisters, Ann Kotyk of Canonsburg; Nellie Koval of Canonsburg; Eva Cadez Kulik of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Pearl Kotyk and Julia Verakis also five brothers, Steve, John, Harry, Frank and William Kotyk.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, July 4, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will take place Monday, July 5, 2010 at 9:30 AM, followed by Funeral Service at 10:00 AM in St. John's the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Rev. Joseph Oleynik officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Parastas Service will be held at 7:00 PM in the funeral home on Sunday.
