Harry Lawrence Costello, Jr.

Harry Lawrence Costello, Jr.; age 91 of Canonsburg, formerly of Dormont , passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 4, 1920 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Harry Lawrence and Ann Saunders Costello, Sr.
After graduating high school, Mr. Costello served as a corporal with United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Asiatic/ Pacific area with the Heavy Art Crewman, receiving a Good Conduct Medal.
He retired as a welder from Dravo, lived most of his life in the Dormont and Bethel Park area where he was a member for many years of St. Bernard's Church of Mt. Lebanon. Mr. Costello loved spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren.
On April 22, 1950, he married his beloved wife of just celebrating 62 years, Dorothy Hastings who survives. Also surviving are son, Dennis Costello of Chester, Pa.; four daughters, Barbara (Larry) Sandy of North Strabane Twp.; Kathleen (Rich) Crowe of Newtown Square, Pa.; Maureen Lynch of Pittsburgh; Mary Beth (Ron) Kubiak of Strabane; fourteen grandchildren, David Sandy, Jonathan Costello, Gretchen Sandy, Leah Costello, Reese Crowe, Melissa Crowe, Patrick Sandy, Shannon Lynch, Samantha Kubiak, Cameron Kubiak, Sean Lynch, Cayla Kubiak, Brett Crowe, Zachary Lynch; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Autumn and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased also is brother, Charles "Bud" Costello.
Friends are welcome on Friday April 27, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc.; Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Patrick Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the combined honor guard of VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations Odyssey Hospice or to Catholic Charities
