Gloria E. Kern, age 97 of Strabane passed away peacefully Friday February 10, 2023, in Evergreen Assisted Living. She was born December 5, 1925 in Large, PA. Gloria was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Davis) Slapnican.
She graduated from Clairton High School in 1944 and went to the Pittsburgh Aeronautics Institute and received her private pilots license in 1947.
On January 5, 1950 she married the late Joseph Kern whom she enjoyed over 49 years of marriage with.
Gloria enjoyed cooking, reading, and polka dancing. One of Gloria’s proudest accomplishments was in October of 2016, at the age of 91, getting back into a piper cub airplane and flying around the Pittsburgh area.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Kern and his wife Lori of Strabane, her daughter, Jamie Gregorczyk and her husband Edward of Strabane. Her granddaughter, Katelyn Klauss and her husband Donnie of Cecil and a great-granddaughter, Harper Klauss.
