Gertrude J. Hatalsky age 92 of Canonsburg, died Wednesday September 1, 2010 in Canonsburg General Hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 13, 1918 in Bishop, Cecil Twp., a daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine Machesky Plute.
Mrs. Hatalsky was a home maker and a member of Holy Rosary Church in Muse. She was a member of the Muse Senior Citizens and the Orchard Lake Society of St. Genevieve Church.
On October 21, 1944 she married Walter J. (Butch) Hatalsky who died February 9, 1988. She is survived by a daughter Sharlene Steiner of Canonsburg, a brother, Robert Plute of Houston, a sister Alice Plute of Canonsburg, five grand children, Beth King, John, Patrick and Robert O'Neil and Stephanie Kubik, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband is a son John W. O'Neil and a brother Edwin Plute.
Friends are welcome from 2-8 pm Friday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 am Saturday September 4, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday in Holy Rosary Church, Muse with the Reverend George DeVille pastor as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Peters Twp. Memorial contributions can be made to the Canonsburg Public Library or Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
