Gerard A. Yoest, 60 the most wonderful man in the world went to be with Our Lord on February 2, 2017 after a seven year battle with cancer.
He was born on October 7, 1956 in Pittsburgh to Edward and Jean Carmody Yoest who preceded him in death.
He was the most loving husband of Terry L. McNurlen Yoest for 39 years who will miss him dearly. They were married on July 30, 1977.
Mr. Yoest was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He was a Steel Worker for Washington Steel and Ametek for many years.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Gerard loved his family dearly and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events at school.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife, he was the most amazing father to Heather R. Depsky, of Washington, Shane E. Yoest (April) of McDonald, and Terra A. Handyside (Brent) of Canonsburg, a cherished pap-pap of Brennan, Taylor and Baily Handyside, Rylee and Adasyn Yoest, Payton, Zoey and Hayden Depsky, a brother Edward Yoest (Char) of Endicott, New York, a very loving sister Karen M. Kalas (Jeffrey) of Pittsburgh who was by his side throughout his long illness, a loving mother-in-law Blanche McNurlen, a brother-in-law Jackie McNurlen (Jamie) and many nieces and nephews.
Two special people will miss him dearly, Darlene and Rich Eckles who have been through all of this with him.
He will be missed by his two faithful dogs, Brooklyn and Bella.
Friends will be received from 2~4 PM and 6~8 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 6, 2017. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery Canonsburg.
