George P. Dzurino, 94 of Canonsburg, formerly of Muse, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in McMurray Hills Manor Nursing home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 3, 1923 in Muse to Michael and Mary Chuey Dzurino who preceded him in death.

On January 21, 1947 he married Margaret M. Shook who passed away on December 16, 1994.

Mr. Dzurino served his country during WWII in the United States Army and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and an European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.

He was employed at McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg until his retirement in 1986.

He enjoyed golfing, and going to the Meadows Casino in his free time. He was a big Pittsburgh Pirate fan who enjoyed watching them play on TV.  He loved his two great grand-dogs Lucy and Huey.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl L. Crumrine of Washington and Celeste C. Polosky (Stan) of Canonsburg, three grandchildren Christie Taylor (Steve), Denise Crumrine and Justin Polosky, twin brothers Robert Dzurino of McMurray and Michael Dzurino (Judy) of Washington, a sister Elizabeth Nackoul (Mike) of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother John Dzurino and a sister Mary Krashna.

Friends will be received from 6~8 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2107 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:30 AM on Monday, September 25, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 175 of Washington and the United States Army.
