George R. Lyon Jr., 80, of Canonsburg died Tuesday July 19, 2011 in Canonsburg Hospital.
Mr. Lyon was born April 5, 1931 in Linden, North Strabane Township, a son of George R. and Gladys Stevens Lyon. He was a lifelong resident of the North Strabane Twp. area and was a construction worker and a founding member of Millwright local 2235 of Pittsburgh for over 50 years and member of the Eagles Lodge.
On November 30, 1973 he married Janet Totterdale Gazvoda who survives. Also surviving are two sons, George R. (Eileen) Lyon III of Charleston, West Virginia and Mark W. (Anna) Lyon of Burk, Virginia, three daughters Deborah (Edward ) Moe of Gettysburg, Marsha (Phil) Sablo of Burkley, Mass. and Merrie (Paul) McIntyre of Leesburg, Virginia, a sister Arlene McKissick of Tucson Arizona, ten grandchildren, six step children, Brenna (Rob) Gobleck of Deming New Mexico, Brenda (Greg) Torras of Monticello New Mexico, Victoria Bray Corinth Mississippi, Eileen Slover of Seattle, Irene (Gary) Lucarini of and Eric Gazvoda at home, seven great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Fred and Arthur Lyon and a sister Lucille Knupp who died April 1, 2011.
