George J. "Jim" Cox

George J. "Jim" Cox, 87, of Muse passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in the Greenery, Canonsburg.

He was born on December 9, 1926 in Avella, a son of the late George E. and Anna E. Ruschell Cox.

Jim was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 793 in Cecil. He was also a member of the Muse Italian Club and the last surviving charter member of the Muse Volunteer Fire Department. He had also served on the Canon-McMillan School Board.

Prior to his retirement from the Pennsylvania American Water Company, Jim had been employed by the Muse Company Store, the Morris General Store, and Dickler's Grocery.

On September 16, 1950 he married Dolores A. Pozonsky, who survives.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jim is also survived by his three children, Mary Ann (Quin) Dantry of Canonsburg, George E. (Sharon) Cox of Cecil, and Christine (Craig) Roach of McDonald; a brother, Ralph (Norma) Cox of Massillon, Ohio; a sister, Fran (Larry, deceased) Kubrys of Muse; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Brian) Yagulli, Megan (Denny) Fleeher, George E. (Robin) Cox, Jr., Jennifer Cox, Tiffany (Chuck) Jamerson, J. Parker Roach, and Hunter Roach; and ten great grand children.

In addition to his parents, deceased is also a sister, June Cox.

Friends are welcome from 2:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Panahida service will begin at 7:00 PM and a service with the Muse Fire Dept. will follow. The Honor Guard with the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 191 in Canonsburg will render military honors at the funeral home beginning at 9:15 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2014. The Divine Liturgy will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2014 in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 166 E. College Street, Canonsburg with Rev. Joseph Jugan officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
