George F. Carini, 83, of Canonsburg passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 9, 2015 in his home.
He was born on October 26, 1931 in Belle Vernon, the son of the late George and Frances Kilger Carini.
George grew up in Belle Vernon and also spent time in Oklahoma and Missouri prior to relocating to Penn Hills in 1962. He had been a resident of Canonsburg for the past 20 years.
He was a graduate of Kiski Prep. George earned his BS and MS in Ceramic Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He then earned both a PhD in minerology as well as geology from the University of Missouri Columbia. In 1976 he opened Ceramic Consultants and the Clay Harden Co. and continued to own/operate them until his retirement in 1996. George was also a proud veteran who served with the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in Korea from 1950-1953. He enjoyed collecting antiques, especially coins and bottles.
Surviving are his two beloved children, George F. (Lisa) Carini, II of Scott Twp. and Gena Lil (David Steffen) Carini of Bertoud, Colorado; a precious granddaughter, Georgia Catherine Carini of Scott Twp.; and his companion, Pat Susa, with whom he shared a home. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents are two sisters, Lillian Carini Thorman and Georgina Carini Carney.
Family and friends are welcome from 4-6 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday. Interment will be on Monday, October 19, 2015 in Okmulgee Cemetery, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
