Genevieve C. Martin age 85 of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Thursday July 7, 2011 in her home. She was born September 9, 1925 in Meadowlands, a daughter of the late Steve and Kathryn Randolph Stasiowski. Mrs. Martin lived her entire life in the Meadowlands and Canonsburg areas, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
She graduated from Chartiers High School and had been an accountant for her late husband at Martin Optical Company in Canonsburg. She was a homemaker who was a cherished mother and grandmother. Mrs. Martin was an avid quilter and painter.
On May 22, 1947 she married John E. Martin who died March 19, 1993. Surviving are her children, Thomas J. (Deborah) Martin of Canonsburg, three daughters, Carol Ann Martin of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Susan K. (Keith) Flood of Canonsburg and Barbara J. (Stanley) Romano of Washington, six grandchildren, Brian and Megan Flood, Erin and Kristen Martin and Marie and Mario Romano, two sisters Mary Pikunas of Claysville and Helen Supinski of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband are two brothers Walter and Fred Stasiowski and two sisters, Caroline Reichert and Isabelle Morgan.
Friends are welcome from 3-8pm Sunday July 10 in Salandra Funeral Service, inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a blessing service will be held at 9:30am Monday July 11, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Patrick Church with interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Family suggest, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Greater Canonsburg Lions Club or to St. Patrick Church in memory of Mrs. Martin.
